Hi Men - loved podcast # 49, as usual, had a fit of laughing on the train whilst listening on my iPhone (thanks Dom for some advice on apps)... and loved your guest Matt, what a nice voice, and thanks for putting his pic up also, as he is a cute looking man...
But please, what is Banning Bukkake????
Looking forward to # 50. Trying to think of suggestions for topics but nothing meaty comes to mind.
Saw the movie "Milk" last night - fabulous, and makes you think how far we've come, from the struggle of visibility and acceptance, to now, when it just is... the opening titles, and the pictures underneath that, were very sobering and made me quite angry.
Anyway men, great show.

Hi all,

Love the podcast - it's a taste of home for me (except Dominic, he sounds just like everyone else here in Aotearoa, even after 18 years away :) People seem to give me odd looks as I'm walking to work listening to it - probably because of the manic grin on my face and the occasional guffaws.

You mentioned that you thought Ian Frazer (who invented the HPV vaccine jointly with Jian Zhou) should win Australian of the Year - he did in fact win Australian of the Year, in 2006 (the year after Fiona Wood, who invented 'spray-on skin'). I'm told that the original reason for wanting to invent the vaccine was to help reduce deaths in people in areas where screening isn't readily available or there are cultural issues associated with screening (often the case in developing countries).

Interestingly, HPV, as well as causing cervical cancer in women, can cause rectal and anal cancers. Gay men are at increased risk (especially those who are HIV+, but all gay men appear to be at some increased risk), so it may be worth considering getting vaccinated, if you can afford it and don't have any reason to suspect you've already been infected.
(Yes, I'm an epidemiology geek. Sorry).

I believe the next phase of research for the team who developed the HPV preventative vaccine is a 'theraputic vaccine', to eliminate the virus in people who are already infected - this could be especially good news for the gay community and anyone infected with strains that the protective vaccine doesn't prevent. More info on that (and a skin cancer vaccine) at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Frazer

Oh yay! I know this might sound a bit tragic, but I've been wondering when the hell you'd gonna post a new cast! Now I have something to do at work tomorrow, instead of actually working, awsome. :)
Cheers lads.
